According to scientific research, the Mediterranean is going to rise around five feet by the end of this century, which means that popular tourist destinations and the historic city of Venice could almost entirely disappear.
Artist Lorenzo Quinn wanted to spread this message by creating this beautiful sculpture and displaying it in the center of Venice's Grand Canal in 2017. The sculpture is named ‘support’ and depicts two hands rising from the canal and supporting the building of the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel.
It represents a dual human nature and its power to either preserve the environment or totally destroy it by continuing to degrade our ecosystems.
We need to educate ourselves on this topic and to protect our planet. It is the right time to think about the consequences of our current lifestyle and to start doing the right things to minimize or stop the degradation of the environment.
